Canucks dethrone the Kings

I didn't watch Monday nights game. What a bad blogger I am, eh? I do have an excuse though! My friend and I decided to go to a poetry slam night at Cafe Deux Soleils. Wow...this place is probably one of Vancouver's hidden gems. Aside from the wicked sweet poetry recited by some cool locals, the food is pretty darn good, as well. I definitely recommend this superb little cafe!

At any rate, if you were like me and somehow didn't watch the Vancouver Canucks play the Los Angeles Kings...you didn't miss much. Guess how many goals were scored? Only one - by the wonderful Manny Malholtra.

OH! Did you know that Malholtra was nominated for the Masterton Trophy? Yes, sir. This trophy is awarded to "the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey." Congrats, dude!

According to Jason Botchford, the Canucks writer for The Province, "Malhotra is going ovechkin on this season". I can't help but agree.

On a side note, where is the old Ovechkin we used to know and love? Crickets...
Anyways, what else happened in this boring one goal game? Luongo accomplished his 4th shutout of the season. Mad props, Luo. I've never doubted his skills, especially during the rougher patches. I've learned something about Luongo - he is an amazing goalie that has major ups - and major downs.

That's just how he is.

Yes, I get that isn't necessarily a good thing going into playoffs, but let's just hope he keeps the haters out of his head, and that he'll lead us to a first round win.

Derek Jory also agrees that Luongo had "stellar goal tending" during Monday nights game. So I think I'll just leave it at that.

Luoooooo!

Alright, so the Canucks beat the Kings 1-0. What else? Well, since this post is a tad late, we also played the Colorado Avalanche - yet again. Spoiler alert: we won! I will have the tidbits from that game in my next post. Sorry for the delay (school, blah).

Much Love,
Cryssy Canuck
